SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) -
In May, the city of Spencer was named one of Iowa's first four Blue Zone Communities.
Wednesday, folks there will learn what it will mean the city and to their lifestyle.
The Blue Zone Project will officially kick off with a rally at 5:30 p.m. at the Clay County Regional Events Center.
The initiative is focused on healthier living.
It's part of an effort to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation.
Thursday evening's rally will give residents their first chance to see all the activities and opportunities the Blue Zone Project has to offer.
Dan Buettner will speak.
He's a national expert on sustainable communities and the author of "Blue Zones", the book that started the movement.
The public is encouraged to come on out and get fired up about putting well-being into action.
