Organizers are already planning for the University of Okoboji Winter Games.
Organizers met earlier this week. Jen Johnson, Program Director of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, says the schedule will feature several new events again this year, including a blood drive. "We're going to ask people to come out in support of that, so that's one of the new events," Johnson said. "We also have a new chess tournament for youth that will be held at the Arnolds Park Public Library. And then there is another event coming up but we have to wait and see if things pan out before I can leak that information."
Johnson says they're also seeking nominations for cheerleaders. "Historically for winter games we acknowledge eight local people," Johnson said. "You have to be residents of Dickinson county, and we want to acknowledge those people and the great gifts they give our county with the donation of their time and talent to make the place what it is."
The 2013 University of Okoboji Winter Games will be held January 25th-27th.
