Siouxlanders bid on auction items to help raise money for STEMM's work in Tanzania.
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb (KTIV) -
Tanzania is half a world away. But, Thursday night Siouxlanders came together to help raise money for one group's work there.
For the past 16 years, Siouxland Tanzanian Education and Medical Ministry, or STEMM, has traveled twice a year to Tanzania to help send kids to school, and provide medical operations.
Thursday night's fundraiser included a silent and live auction with artwork, vacation packages, autographed items, even a car.
Right now, the group is in the process of building an orphanage in Tanzania.
"Our goal is to be the hands and feet and heart of Jesus to the people of Tanzania and tonight's a great example of people of Siouxland really, really want to give," said Steve Meyer, STEMM Founder.
KTIV's Kristie VerMulm emceed the event.
