SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Developers of one of three proposed Sioux City casino projects were vying for the youth vote, Monday night.
Sioux City Entertainment, backers of the Hard Rock Casino, presented their ideas to the Sioux City Growth Organization, Monday night. The group made up of young professionals listened to the Hard Rock backers make their pitch.
Given the insulated nature of casinos, there's concern that the Hard Rock's hotel, restaurants, and concert venue will compete with the existing downtown entertainment district.
"I think it's just the opposite. We're going to bring a lot more people into the city, because the Hard Rock, iconic Hard Rock brand brings people in. We're going to have more music, more concerts, more events. So, it will enhance the community, not hurt it," said Sioux City Entertainment Vice President of Development, Jerry Hill.
They'll make their pitch to the state gaming board next year, along with Ho-Chunk Incorporated and Penn National Gaming.
