PIERSON, Iowa (KTIV) -
A man is hospitalized after falling 90 feet off a northwest Iowa water tower.
That water tower was under construction in the town of Pierson, Iowa.
Crews have been working to put a new "lid" on the top of the city's 90-year-old water tower.
Shortly after 4:30 Tuesday afternoon the Woodbury County Sheriff's department says the safety cable snapped for one of the crew members who was on the outside of the tower.
Authorities say he was conscious, but taken by Mercy Air Care to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. We're told he suffered several broken bones. His name and condition are unknown at this time.
The crew working on the tower is from MaGuire Iron, based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
