Storm Lake, IA voters pass school improvement measures

Voters in Storm Lake, Iowa, have approved three measures to pay for improvements to the local public high school.

"Measure A", which allows the district to borrow against the local option sales tax to do the work, passed with 67-percent support.

The majority of voters also cast "yes" votes for "Measure B", which will allow for an increase in the "physical plant and improvement levy", or PPEL.

"Measure C", which passed by almost an identical margin, will extend the PPEL for another 10-years through the year 2026.

The schools now have $11-million to renovate the 50-year-old high school, which is now too crowded.
