NORFOLK, Neb (KTIV/US92) -
City leaders in Norfolk, Nebraska are helping to pave the way for more business and more jobs in the Siouxland Community. The City Council voted in favor of two measures this week that will do both.
The first measure was a redevelopment plan by Sioux City-based Big Game LLC to develop the southeast corner of the intersections of Highways 81 and 275. The council gave their approval to the plan which will allow for the construction of a new Perkins Restaurant on the property and bring with it 115 new jobs. City Economic Development leaders say with the approval, construction could being within the next few weeks.
The Norfolk City Council also approved an ordinance change that will allow a large tract of land on the city's west side to be changed from agricultural to commercial. It will pave the way for plans by a local group to build a new fitness center, nutrition store and strip mall on the site.
The action taken was the first by a new council. Prior to the meeting, newly elected and re-elected members were sworn in.
