If the Argosy and city fail to reach an agreement, employees would then be given at least 60 days notice before a closure announcement.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
City Manager Paul Eckert says they hope to have an agreement by the end of this month, with the Argosy's operator, Penn National Gaming.
The deadline is January 29th.
Without the extension, 300 employees could be out of work.
Talks have been slowed by accusations of foot-dragging.
"We're here now and not having the types of comments either on our part or other parts talking about frustrations or anything like that. We're committed we're having good dialogue," Paul Eckert, Sioux City Manager said.
