Eyewitness recounts man's fall from Pierson, Iowa water tower

The Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration has not decided whether it will investigate the fall of a worker from the water tower in Pierson.  The man is with a crew from Sioux Falls.  He fell 90 feet to the ground on Tuesday and suffered multiple broken bones.  He remains hospitalized in Sioux City.  His name and condition have not been released, but Pierson's fire chief says he was talking Wednesday morning.

Norfolk man shot while in Omaha Burger King drive-through

A college student from Norfolk, Nebraska is recovering after being shot in the face in a drive-thru at an Omaha Burger King.  Twenty-one-year-old Alexander Dike told police that late Tuesday night, a man with a gun ordered him to get out of his car.  Dike refused and rolled up his window.  That's when he heard gunshots.  No arrests have been made.

Sioux City bottling company cuts jobs, selling less soda

Chesterman bottling company has cut five jobs.  President Cy Chesterman says their soda sales are down more than 10 percent in recent years, so they've had to trim production.  But he says overall, business is strong at the Sioux City company.  They've started selling more drinks that they don't manufacture, including teas, sports drinks, and bottled water.

Sioux City is making progress on extending the lease for the Argosy Casino

There is word of progress in talks to extend the lease for the Argosy Casino in Sioux City.  City Manager Paul Eckert says they hope to have an agreement by the end of this month with operator Penn National Gaming.  The deadline is January 29th.  The jobs of more than 300 Argosy employees could be at stake.
