Grassley says he is not optimistic about a deal being reached before the end of the year.
WASHINGTON (KTIV) -
Senator Grassley says Republicans have shown a willingness to compromise by increasing revenue from wealthy Americans, but he says that won't be enough to balance the budget.
"It would only take care of 8/10ths, or 8% of the budget deficit that we have every year, so we've got to start talking about the other 90%. What are we going to do to reduce spending? And the president, evidently, doesn't want to talk about spending, and he can just sit back and not negotiate and there hasn't been any negotiation for the last three weeks involving the president personally," Senator Chuck Grassley, (R) Iowa said.
Grassley says he is not optimistic about a deal being reached before the end of the year.
