The Sioux City Explorers have announced that field manager Stan Cliburn will return for his third season.
The Sioux City Explorers have announced that Field Manager, Stan Cliburn, will return for his 3rd season as the X's field manager. The two have agreed to terms on a contract extension for the 2013 season.
"I am looking forward to my return to Sioux City to manage the X's in 2013," stated Cliburn. "I am looking forward to the many positive changes we have in store this year, as we work to bring a Championship to Sioux City."
The 2013 season will mark Cliburn's third year at the helm in Sioux City. He led the 2012 squad to a 45-55 record and as a team the X's hit .286, while the pitchers held opposing teams to less than five earned runs per game at 4.93. Over his two years in Sioux City, Cliburn's squads have compiled a 96-104 record, posting a 55-45 home record at Lewis & Clark Park.
"Stan has done a great job for us on and off the field in his first two seasons at the helm; we are excited to know that Stan will be with us for the 2013 campaign," commented Explorers General Manager, Shane Tritz. "As an organization, our goal has always been and will continue to be to provide our fans with a team that performs at a high level on the field, while playing an active role in our community. I can assure our fans that plans have been put in place this off-season to be able to provide our fans with a team we will all be proud of on and off the field."
The Explorers will report for Spring Training on Friday, May 3rd with day one of spring training starting on Saturday, May 4th. The X's kick off the 2013 regular season on May 16th at Lewis & Clark Park versus the Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants.
