SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
You might be familiar with the Salvation Army around this time of the year for that trademark red kettle. Saturday, was a little different.
The organization held a nationwide campaign called "Fill the Truck." Their goal was to put as many toys and warm clothes inside as possible.
More than 2,500 Walmart stores across the country participated, accepting hats, gloves, and toys, to give out to children in need in the community.
"I rather enjoy it," said Chandra Julch, an assistant manager at the South Sioux City Salvation Army thrift store. "My kids are fortunate enough that they don't have to, but I can't imagine the kids out there that need toys or a coat for winter, or gloves or anything. So, it's great to give them something that they need."
If you missed out on Saturday's event, you can still drop off items at any Siouxland Salvation Army store through December 20th.
