A man is in jail after a weekend investigation into a double homicide in Northeast Nebraska. Authorities say the bodies of a man and woman were pulled from a charred mobile home Saturday morning, after a domestic dispute was called in for the same address, 5-10-25 857th Road in rural Ewing, Nebraska. 33-year old Matthew Hinrichsen, of Ewing, was taken into custody, and booked into the Madison County Jail on two counts of murder. Authorities aren't releasing many other details.
Winter weather leads to I-29 closure
Interstate-29 between Sioux Falls and Watertown, South Dakota is still closed after winter weather shut it down Sunday. The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the interstate will remain closed until conditions in the eastern half of the state improve. Strong winds mixed with snow created white-out conditions and icy roads.
Local leaders ready for annual Legislative Day
Tuesday is the 16th annual Legislative Day, which also means it's a big day for Sioux City. Local leaders and state legislators will meet to talk about economic progress, local infrastructure, and public safety, and one of the big items on the agenda is an Iowa tax withholding program. Legislative Day will be held at city hall in Sioux City.
Sioux City kids spend the day with police officers, but for good reason. They took part in the annual "Shop with a Cop" program. Officers escorted local kids around Walmart this weekend to help them buy $100 in gifts for their family this holiday. Police say it's a great way for the kids to grow more comfortable with men and women patrolling the streets. The kids were also surprised with new bikes after the shopping was finished.
