SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Fundraising to help pay for the new Children's Museum in Sioux City is kicking into high gear.
The executive director of the museum says about four million dollars is needed to begin construction next year at the new site on the corner of Pearl St. and 7th.
Tuesday, she says they got a much needed boost from the county to help them apply for state funds.
"The county board of supervisors went ahead and wrote a letter of support just hearing about the project via email, and that's really important for our ability to receive the Vision Iowa Grant, which is available at the state level," Kari Kellen, executive director said.
The total project cost is about four and a half million dollars.
Museum officials hope to have the project finished by the summer of 2014.
