DAKOTA CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -
The suspect walked into the Pioneer Package liquor store, near 16th and Broadway, at about one o'clock, Thursday afternoon.
Police say the suspect had a gun tucked into the waistband of his jeans, and threatened the owner, who was working the counter at the time.
The owner got a good look at the suspect, and explains what he saw when the suspect approached the counter.
"So they have a black mask, and a red sweater, and they say, they want the money," Armando Valerio, the Pioneer Package liquor store owner said.
Valerio says, at first, he refused to give the suspect cash.
But, after the suspect showed the gun, Valerio gave him everything in the cash drawer.
"When we arrived, the suspect had already left, one of the neighbors had chased him on foot, and lost him, so we're just in the process of reviewing the video tape and looking for the suspect," Tim Decker, the Chief Deputy Sheriff for Dakota County said.
Decker says the suspect was wearing a red hoodie, a black facemask, and blue jeans.
Police confirm he was armed with a small black handgun.
