Hundreds of kids came out to get free shoes from Goodwill Industries annual shoes and mittens party.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
So many kids this time of year want toys and games for Christmas, but some in our community just want shoes.
That's why for the past 71 years, Goodwill Industries has been holding it's annual shoe and mitten party.
Over 3,000 kids in need were invited to receive a new pair of shoes, socks, and mittens.
The president of Goodwill Industries in Sioux City says, some kids come in with holes in their shoes.
This year they were able to raise enough money from the community to buy about 1400 pairs.
"Each year it is a struggle to raise the funds for the shoes, and each year they go up, so anything the public can do to help out is sure appreciated," John Hantla, President of Goodwill Industries in Sioux City said.
Dozens of volunteers from the community came out to help with the event, including high school students, law enforcement members and boy scouts.
