Aaron White eventually rammed a state patrol vehicle, injuring Trooper Brian Detlefsen.
PLAINVIEW, Neb. (KTIV) -
A Nebraska State Trooper has been hurt and a 38-year-old man was shot after incidents in the Plainview and Brunswick areas Tuesday.
Nebraska State Patrol Captain Paul Hattan said in a news conference Tuesday afternoon that officers were dispatched to Plainview just after 11 a.m. as Pierce County Sheriff's had received reports that 38-year-old Aaron White was creating a disturbance while trying to remove his children from Zion Lutheran School in Plainview.
Patrol officials say White drove off from the school alone in his semi, before stopping at a nearby convenience store, threatening to harm himself and others and attempting to set fire to his semi.
White then went to his home near Brunswick, where he got on a tractor, which he used to ram vehicles and out-buildings.
White eventually rammed a state patrol vehicle, injuring Trooper Brian Detlefsen in the process.
Another patrol officer shot White in the side, and he gave himself up.
Detlefsen was transported to Creighton Hospital with a cut on his head, while White was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City for treatment of the gunshot wound.
Hattan says White is expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday evening.
White will eventually be extradited to Antelope County, where he'll face felony charges of assault of an officer.
Hattan says he's unsure of what exactly caused the incident, but did say that White's pending divorce may have been a factor.
Plainview schools were briefly placed on lockdown and have since reopened.
