Suspect in double murder back in Nebraska courtroom

NELIGH, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -

The man accused of a double murder, in northeast Nebraska, faced the families of his victims in court on Tuesday.

Matthew Hinrichsen, 33, faces charges of murder and arson in the deaths of 25-year old Victoria Lee and her husband 30-year old Alex Vargas.

Investigators found the bodies of the newlywed couple in a burned-out mobile home, near Ewing.

Authorities say they're were shot before the mobile home was set on fire.

In front of the victims' families, and his own, Hinrichsen waived his preliminary hearing. His arraignment is now scheduled for January 30th in Antelope county.

Court documents suggest Victoria Lee was Hinrichsen's ex-girlfriend. Family members say Lee and Vargas married in October.
