NEAR VERMILLION, S.D. (KTIV) -
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says an armored van was involved in one of three separate fatal crashes during icy conditions on Interstate 29 Tuesday.
The van went out of control just north of the Vermillion exit, through the median and across the southbound lanes into the opposite ditch where it rolled.
A passenger, 27-year-old Justin Wehde of Garretson, died of injuries he suffered in the crash.
The woman driving the van and a man riding in the vault of the armored vehicle both suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
They are both from Sioux Falls.
The cash being transported in the van was taken to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
