Balloons were released into the air in memory of the Sandy Hook shooting victims.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Touched by the tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, a group gathered in Sioux City to honor their memories.
The Woodbury County Sheriff's Department joined forces with an organization called SAFE.
The name stands for Serving Armed Forces Everyday. The two groups released balloons into the snowy skies Wednesday night.
The balloon release was done to remember the 20 children who lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Each balloon had a message on it.
The idea? The balloons would float towards the heavens, and whoever picks up the note would be able to stop and remember the victims, too.
