The first official day of winter is Friday but it has come early to parts of the Midwest

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Here in Sioux City, the road conditions are improving.

There is three and a half inches of snow on the ground.

But in other parts of Siouxland and across the Midwest, it's a different story.

The snow totals from Wednesday night and into Thursday morning are Storm Lake 6.0", Sac City 5.0", Holstein 5.0", Manson, 5.0", Ruthven 4.0", Sioux City 3.6", Spirit Lake 2.5-3.0", North Sioux City 3.0, Sheldon, 2.5, Spencer 2.0", and Wayne 2.0".
