The Salvation Army is distributing Christmas toys and food baskets for 600 families.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The Salvation Army is helping make sure it's a Merry Christmas for hundreds of Siouxland families. Friday, the group distributed Christmas toys and food baskets for 600 families.
Each of the 1700 children who benefited received two toys, along with a hat and gloves.
The organization is also providing food baskets containing a Christmas meal to about 100 senior citizens.
"I don't want any child to wake up on Christmas morning and not find something under the tree. We really hope that each child and each family can just have a nice Christmas that children receive a toy, the family have food for a nice Christmas dinner," said Major Von R. Vandiver, The Salvation Army Commanding Officer.
The Salvation Army has been helping Siouxlanders in need, with the help of donors and volunteers, since 1888.
