NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -
Police have arrested eight people for assaulting two others during a home invasion in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Just after six p.m. Friday, police arrived at 125 North 25th Street. That's the Woodwinds apartment complex. A man and woman who lived there told authorities that suspects smashed through the window of their apartment after they wouldn't let them in.
A struggle ensued. The male victim said he was being strangled. So, he stabbed the suspect to get away. Authorities say the group drove the stabbed suspect to the hospital.
Twenty-five-year old Mario Rogel-Sanchez, 24-year old Cody Wright, 24-year old Latoya Whitedress, 23-year old Rico Whitedress, 20-year old Dominique Gonzalez, 19-year old Rigoberto Gonzalez, 19-year old Brenda Gonzalez, and 18-year old Rhiannon Zarate were arrested at the hospital and charged with strangulation and burglary. They were also charged with child abuse, because children were present during the incident.
Authorities say the victims and suspects knew each other.
