SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A gas line has been repaired after officials say it was cut Monday morning, forcing residents to stay in their homes.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. at the corner of 38th and Jones streets.

MidAmerican Energy officials say while the city was working on a water line they hit a gas line.

At that time, officials told residents to stay in the homes, and the street was blocked off as a safety precaution.

MidAmerican says gas has been restored to the 18 homeowners affected.
