SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

One Siouxland family got a Christmas gift early this year.

Reuben and Veronica Warren from Salix, Iowa welcomed their fourth child, Emerson into the world around 2 a.m. on Christmas morning.

The family says their little bundle of joy arrived about a week earlier than expected.

The mother of the newborn tells us she was shopping for last minute gifts in Sioux City, when she began having contractions.

"I was actually in denial yesterday, cause I had wrapping stuff to do with the other kids, I wanted to be there Christmas morning, so it was nice, the girls brought in the Christmas tree put it in my room, and then my husband went down and got the Christmas presents brought them up and the kids opened up Christmas presents in here," Veronica Warren said.

The family calls their Christmas baby a blessing, but now they're looking forward to some rest.

"I guess most parents are kinda tired Christmas morning but this kinda brought new meaning to tired on Christmas morning," Reuben Warren.

When nurses at Mercy Regional Medical Center found out about the delivery, they decided to decorate the mother's room with a Christmas tree to help the family enjoy the holiday at the hospital.
