People lining up at Promenade Theatre to buy tickets on Christmas.
Christmas Day is traditionally one of the busiest days of the year for movie theaters.
In Sioux City, by midday the Promenade Theater parking lot was packed with cars.
Inside some showings were sold out. Movie goers KTIV talked with told us seeing a movie on Christmas is a tradition, and find it relaxing.
"Either way it's going to be a good experience, if it's a good movie, we can talk about it afterwards, if it's a bad one we heckle it together," Patrick Smith Jr. from Omaha, Nebraska said.
"Well, we had a our Christmas early on Sunday afternoon, and got the boys together and decided just to come and watch a movie," Kathy Johnson from Sioux City said.
A manager at the Promenade Movie theatre downtown says they expect a couple thousand people to come out on Christmas day.
