OKOBOJI, Iowa (KTIV/KUOO) -
Some Northwest Iowa residents are recycling their old natural Christmas trees to help fuel one of the premiere events in the Iowa Great Lakes.
With Christmas over, lakes area residents are being encouraged to take them to several drop off sites in the region.
Semi trailers are located at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds in Spirit Lake, near the city of Milford maintenance building, and the parking lot at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park.
The natural trees and greenery will be used in the bonfire that's become a tradition with the opening ceremony of the University of Okoboji Winter Games.
The Winter Games are scheduled for January 25th, 26th and 27th.
