PONCA, Neb. (KTIV) -
Nebraska's Ponca State Park celebrated it's first ever, Winterfest.
Park officials say many people don't realize how fun, and beautiful the park is during the winter time.
The goal was to get families to come out and enjoy it. Winterfest was an all-day event filled with outdoor and indoor activities. That included, crafts, a yule log bonfire, and sledding. The featured event was a scavenger hunt which drew dozens of people.
"What we've done is hidden a yule log here, somewhere out in the forest this year, we've got teams participating to try to find it, you have to go through different activities, you have an obstacle course, unravel a candy kiss with gloves or mittens on, and all kinds of different things," Fields said.
Organizers say several hundred people participated and they hope to make Winterfest an annual event.
