The bill still needs a vote from the full Congress.
WASHINGTON (KTIV) -
They are still trying to come to a deal to avert the fiscal cliff, but members of Congress have agreed on one thing.
On Sunday, they came up with a deal to extend the farm bill, and in doing so, averted a big spike in milk prices.
The top leaders in both parties on the House and Senate Agriculture committees agreed to a one-year extension of the 2008 farm bill that expired in October.
It's a move that would head off a possible doubling of milk prices next month.
However, the bill still needs a vote from the full Congress.
