Man and pet escape New Years' Eve morning fire

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

A man and his pet were able to escape a house fire in Dubuque early Monday morning.

Crews were called to 520 Lincoln Avenue at about 5:40 a.m. Monday for a reported house fire.

Firefighters say when they arrived, a large portion of the house was engulfed in flames.

The owner, 30-year-old Walter A. Scott, and his pet were able to escape the home without injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
