Musketeers drop 5-4 decision to Omaha

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- -

The Sioux City Musketeers lost their traditional New Year's Eve game, 5-4, to Omaha in front of
over 4,000 fans at the Tyson Events Center on Monday night.

Sioux City scored first when Tanner Pond got a power play goal at 2:42 of the first period. Omaha
answered with a pair of goals in the final 3:30 of the period to lead 2-1 after one period.

The Lancers took a 3-1 lead in the second period before Jared Thomas scored at the 7:00 minute
mark for Sioux City to cut the lead to 3-2 after two.

Omaha (17-13) scored two more quick goals in the third period to take a commanding 5-2 lead. Sioux
City got a little closer when J.T. Stenglein scored 11 minutes into the third to make it 5-3.
Christian Lampasso scored with :11 seconds left to provide the final tally of the game.

The Musketeers (6-17-6) will travel to Sioux Falls for games on Friday and Saturday.
