The first newborn baby of 2013 in Sioux City is Lakota John Bell.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Lakota John Bell, the New Year's Baby in Sioux City took a little longer than some expected.
Jessica Anderson arrived at the hospital around 6 p.m. on New Year's Day and by 9 p.m. was celebrating the birth of her second child with husband Marvin Bell.
Lakota weighed in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and Anderson says because of the evening delivery, they're surprised to be the first parents of the new year, but it's a gift they're cherishing.
"It is kind of cool, but it is kind of overwhelming too. Because, like I said, it was very unexpected," Jessica Anderson, Lakota John Bell's mother said.
Anderson says Lakota has already met his three-year-old brother and Bell says the two are already fascinated by one another.
Anderson added she and her new baby would probably spend the rest of the day napping.
