Two Siouxland hospitals are offering their condolences to the families of the victims of the Mercy North Iowa helicopter crash. The medical helicopter crashed Wednesday night on its way from Mason City, Iowa to Emmetsburg to pick up a patient.
Officials at Palo Alto County Health, the helicopter's intended destination released a statement saying, "The Mercy Air Med crew members were part of our healthcare family, and we are all shocked and devastated by their loss. There are no words to describe how devastating this event was, or how thankful we are to them for their dedication to the patients. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and their families. I would also like to thank those employees who stepped up and took care of our patient and found alternate transportation for their healthcare needs."
Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City also released a statement Thursday saying, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends and associates in Mason City. As a Level II Trauma Center in Sioux City, we provide this same level of air transport service to our patients. Safety is always top of mind." Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City and Mercy Medical North Iowa are both members of the Mercy Health Network.
