NORFOLK, Neb (KTIV/US92) -
The Norfolk Nebraska City Council will meet for the first time in 2013 next Monday.
The meeting will also mark the first for the council in their new chambers.
City officials say the new council chambers, located in the new city offices on 5th Street in town, are ready to be unveiled.
City officials have been in the new building since last March after the city finalized the purchase of the former Supertel Building.
Since then, work has been going on to move the City Council into the building as well.
The new chambers will seat about 100 people or so twice what the old building a few blocks south would hold.
City officials say the lighting and sound in the new building will be much better as well.
The public will get their chance to see the new digs for themselves next week.
The city will be holding an open house for the public to tour the new facility following the City Council meeting on Monday.
The old chambers were located in what's known locally as the Wells Building on Madison Avenue.
As of right now, that building's empty but city officials have said they're working on a few options for the city-owned building although nothing is definite yet.
