SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City is has made a move to improve the health of its patients with heart problems.

On Thursday, the hospital announced an agreement with Cardiovascular Associates, P.C. That move became effective Jan. 1.

Officials say the move will enhance hospital services and provide more clinics and outreach programs to the patients. St. Luke's officials say the move will streamline operations, while still keeping quality patient care.

"If we're working off the same page, off the same play book, so to speak we can do that better. We can coordinate, we can collaborate, and really with health care as it is nowadays, we have to find ways to be more efficient," said Lynn Wold, chief operating officer for St. Luke's Regional Medical Center.

"This allows us to provide the best care for our patients, keep up with the latest technology, the best equipment and it also allows us to retain and recruit new cardiologists," said Jon Peacock, a cardiologist for CVA.

St. Luke's officials say the Sunnybrook Clinic, when it opens in the summer, will see the greatest impact of the partnership.
