WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Waterloo man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in the 2000 block of Locke Avenue on Sunday.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Jacob Curtis Allen Helm of Waterloo on Wednesday after he was released from the hospital. Police say he was being treated for self-inflicted neck wounds.

Police were called to the home just after noon on Sunday. When they arrived, they found 19-year-old Katelyn McDermott at 2070 Locke Avenue with a stab wound to her neck.

Officers say they then found Helm in the bathroom of McDermott's home at 2064 Locke Avenue with self-inflicted stab wounds to his neck.

Helm is charged with willful injury causing serious injury and aggravated domestic assault. He is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
