Lawmakers set agenda for Tuesday's start of legislative session

South Dakota lawmakers will spend a lot of time studying the Medicaid program when their legislative session gavels in Tuesday.  Democrats want to expand the program to cover an estimated 48,000 additional people.  The federal healthcare law gives states the option of expansion with the federal government picking up most of the extra cost.

Flu spreads across nation earlier than normal

If you haven't had the flu, chance are you know someone who's been sick with it this year.  More than three quarters of the nation reports widespread influenza activity and it could get worse now that kids are back in school.  The Iowa Department of Public Health says the number of patients hospitalized with the flu more than doubled in a week.  Health officials are concerned, saying flu stats are higher than what's normal this time of year.  Doctors say there's still time to get the vaccine.
