DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
Dubuque honored a longtime community volunteer and mover-and-shaker Tuesday evening.
KWWL's coverage partners at the Telegraph Herald awarded their annual Telegraph Herald First Citizen Award to Michael Duehr, who has given back to the community for years through Dubuque's Fraternal Order of Eagles. He created a scholarship and community service organization for young people called Eyes on the Future.
Duehr said his passion stems from helping young people and those in need.
"You know, you're never too old. You know, I'm in my 60s, and you go ahead and you do it. You do it and you'll feel better for it," Duehr said. "This is what we're here for."
The Telegraph Herald held a public ceremony honoring Duehr Tuesday evening at the Diamond Jo in Dubuque.
