SAC COUNTY (KWWL) -
Tracey Richter will stay in jail. She's the woman serving life in prison for shooting her 20-year-old neighbor Dustin Wehde in western Iowa back in 2001.
Richter admitted to the shooting, but always said it was in self defense. Prosecutors said it was part of an elaborate plot to frame her ex-husband.
Richter was convicted and sentenced on first-degree murder charges in 2011... more than ten years after the shooting happened.
The Iowa Court of Appeals says there was substantial evidence for jurors to decide the killing wasn't justified.
