VERMILLION, SD (KTIV) -
Farm technology grows each year.
Some Siouxland farmers got a closer look at what's available during the 30th annual Dakota Farm Show in Vermillion, South Dakota.
Most days out of the year, Siouxland farmers are scattered across the countryside.
There are a few days though when many get together to see the latest thing.
"It's a new thing for farm-related tractors, seed companies. Kind of a one-stop shop," said Penny Swank, Show Manager.
Organizers say they hope to wrangle in about 25,000 people before Thursday when the Dakota Farm Show in Vermillion, SD ends.
But the 30 year old show wasn't always this big.
"It has grown a lot over the years. We are definitely at our capacity now," said Swank.
One Nebraska farmer says he's come to at least half of the shows.
He says the reason he keeps coming back, to find things that are new and fresh.
"I'm a type of person who likes to change with technology, and this is the first place you usually get introduced to it," said Rodney Heiss, Farmer.
"This is a new model we got out. It's coming out, it wouldn't be available in full production until September, but it's a brand new tractor we have out, so it's pretty exciting," said Dan Hegg, Territory Sales Manager for Case IH.
Some cool tools that farmers are looking for at just the right time.
"Gives you a chance to do it when you're not quite so busy. And, of course, being inside just makes that all work great," said Heiss.
"Last couple years, the farm economy has been really good, and it's been a really good show for us," said Dave Hertz, Midwest Ready Mix and Equipment Owner.
