NEAR GALVA, Iowa (KTIV) -
We now know more about a fire at a processing plant in Galva, Iowa yesterday.
The CEO of American Natural Processors says his employees were testing some of the equipment to re-commission the plant for oil seed processing and soy protein production when some of the test material caught on fire. Mark Schuett says plant personnel were able to contain the flames, but the fire department was called as a precaution to help put out the fire. Schuett says no one was injured and estimated damage is less than one-thousand dollars.
Galva fire chief Randy Vogt says the fire broke out in some pipes inside the plant at about 5:00pm Wednesday. Firefighters spent about two hours on-scene.
