SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Many of you have heard about Elizabeth Smart. She was kidnapped at age 14 by a pair of drifters in Utah, ten years ago and held captive for nine months.
Today, she's a motivational speaker. Now, she's coming to Sioux City to speak at the 13th Annual Women's Power lunch on April 24, at the Sioux City Convention Center.
Officials believe she's a perfect fit for the luncheon.
"We thought she's available, she's on a speaker's tour, but we felt that it was a good match and a good change for our committee, our program," said Patsy Dougherty, chairperson for the event.
Attendance for the event has grown from 340 at the first luncheon in 2001 to nearly 1,100 some years.
