SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- -
National letter of intent day for future NCAA football players is less than a month away.
Northern Iowa head coach Mark Farley has verbal commitments from seven players so far, and two of them are from Bishop Heelan. Bryce Sweeney and Zach Skibinski will both be Panthers.
Sweeney is a 6'6", 300-pounder, who was recruited as an offensive lineman who committed during an official visit to UNI in December.
Sweeney was also part of a Heelan defense that gave up just 9 points per game during the regular season as the Crusaders made it to the Class 3A title game.
Skibinski is a 6'4", 230-pound defensive end. He had 114 tackles this fall with 10 sacks and was an elite all-state pick by the Des Moines Register.
National Letter of intent day is Wednesday, February 6th.
