1 dead after 2 fishermen fell through the ice in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

One person died Friday after two fishermen fell through the ice in Jackson County.

Around 4:40 p.m., a father and his 18-year-old son were ice fishing on South Sabula Lakes when the ice gave way.

Both were taken to Mercy North in Clinton, Iowa.

Ronald Kerkhoff, age 65, died at the hospital.

Jacob Kerkhoff, age 18, is being treated.
