A dozen dogs raced to raise funds for the Siouxland Humane Society.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
With any competition, there's back and forth banter, but these dogs are here for one reason: to win.
"Once in a while, we'll have an icy driveway that he manipulates," said Roberta Elwell, a volunteer for the Siouxland Humane Society.
The ice was crowded, with 12 lap dogs looking to become champions.
"Hopefully tonight, he stays on all fours and I stay on all twos," said Elwell.
And there's a 20 pound weight limit for this competition, so dogs like Grizzly, who weigh in at 17 pounds, probably stand the best chance of winning this because of their power and speed combination.
"Try to stick with the small dogs. It's going to be easier for them to maneuver on the ice," said Jerry Dominicak, executive director for the Siouxland Humane Society.
Some dogs raced to the finish, while others never left the starting block. They might have found the going a little rough, but everyone raised the roof.
