SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Tuesday, Sioux City's city council started looking at their last and largest piece of the Capital Improvement Program budget, the Public Works Department.
The CIP is a financial blue print for fiscal years 2014 to 2018. In it, department heads request money for repairs or purchases. For the most part, Public Works uses CIP funds for repairs and improvements to parks, roads, water and other city infrastructure.
Proposed expenditures for FY 2014 are $24.6 million. That's up about 14% from the approved CIP budget in 2013.

Sioux City council members plan to wrap up their review of potential capital improvement projects Wednesday. They meet to approve the CIP proposals February 25th.
