SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The money that ArtSplash brings in each year not only supports educational and exhibition programs at the Art Center itself but also several non-profits in Siouxland.
One of those, the Micah Project, received a chunk of $15,000, which will be distributed over several other non-profits as well.
Non-profits help out with the event, doing things like putting up tents, selling water, and hosting a children's activity booth.
One Micah Project representative says the money is important to their mission, referring homeless and those "on the edge of poverty" to local services that help them.
"We try to help people plug into services that are here locally. So any money that we get, we're appreciative of, so that we can continue to provide people with those essential services," said Reverend Patricia Johnson, Micah Project Director.
Besides the Micah Project, 12 other non-profits will receive a chunk of the $15,000 check.
