Dr. Terry Wahls shares her story with hundreds of Iowa City business leaders
Iowa City business leaders hosted hundreds for as part of their largest networking event of the year.
The Iowa City area chamber of commerce held its annual banquet Thursday night in Coralville.
The keynote speaker was University of Iowa Doctor Terry Wahls, who overcame multiple sclerosis by changing her diet.
Her message, good nutrition equals good business.
"We can lower our healthcare costs by teaching our population to eat a nutrient-dense diet; that's vegetables, berries, meat, and getting rid of the grain, sugar, processed foods," UIClinical Professor of Medicine Dr. Terry Wahls said.
The Iowa City Chamber has been behind the effort to bring the Blue Zones project to the area.
Iowa City is currently a finalist for this round of selected blue zone communities.
