MASON City, Iowa (KWWL) -
A preliminary federal report suggest that icy conditions were among
the factors that lead to the medical helicopter crash that killed three
people in northern Iowa.
The newly released report did not
conclude what caused the January 2nd crash, but it says several
witnesses reported icy conditions that night.
The helicopter crashed just north of Ventura killing nurse Shelly Lair-Langenbau, paramedic Russell Piehl and pilot Gene Grell.
The crew was on their way to pick up a patient in Emmetsburg.
