VERMILLION, S.D. (KTIV) -

Astronaut and retired U.S. Navy Captain, Mark Kelly, will be the guest speaker at the University of South Dakota's IdeaFest in April.

University of South Dakota officials say Kelly will deliver a lecture entitled "Endeavour to Succeed" at 7:00 p.m. on April 10th in Slagle Hall's Aalfs Auditorium.  The speech will include details on his success in space, as well as how his life changed forever when his wife, Representative Gabrielle Giffords, was shot in Arizona.

Kelly served as commander of Space Shuttle Endeavour for its final flight in May of 2011.

USD's IdeaFest is an annual event that showcases accomplishments in graduate and undergraduate research, creative scholarship and academic engagement.
